1. Change your habits:
Yes ladies this is absolutely critical. You keep gaining weight back because you haven’t changed your eating habits, the things you do on a daily basis.
Once you lose weight, you automatically go back to old ways. Having coffee for breakfast, skipping meals, not doing food shopping and no exercise. In order for you to maintain your new healthy weight, you have to continue to live healthy on a daily basis and commit to making it a lifestyle. There are no short cuts.
It does not have to be perfect by no means but there needs to be consistency. This is how I have sustained my own weight now for years.
2. Step away from the restricted diets:
The keto, atkins diet, weight watchers or the south beach, whatever it is toss it in the bin where it belongs. Maintaining your new weight happens when you eat in a way that is sustainable.
The reason why you gain weight after being on slimming world is because you can’t sustain it, you fall off the wagon as they say and can’t get back on. Then you gain all the weight you lost back and feel like a failure.
Restricted diets have too many rules, you can’t manage them because they cut out all the food you enjoy and are limited. Taking this approach will NEVER help you keep your new weight.
3. Learn how to eat properly:
Somehow I feel we have got really confused about how to eat.
I think this is because of the rise of nutrition crap that is everywhere these days online. People feel overwhelmed with information and don’t know what’s healthy anymore or how much or what food they should be eating.
Be careful where you take your weight loss and nutrition advice from. Try to block out all the nonsense by unfollowing social media accounts of “health guru’s” that have no idea what they are talking about. It’s all about basics ladies, the human body has not changed if at all over time so neither has the way we should eat. Keep it simple.
4. Know your struggles:
What we focus on is what tends to improve over time so it’s important to work on the areas that you find difficult.
Whether it’s emotional eating, not getting enough sleep, not doing any exercise, snacking on the wrong foods etc. These habits/struggles will always be there until you do some work to change them. Master one at a time, then move onto the next.
